Optima 75/35 red top in my 86 coupe & it fit like a charm.$109.00
Thats the same Optima model I have and have had no problems. I paid the same price including install and warranty is still valid. Right now my car sits for about 3 weeks in between drives and she has no problem whatsoever. Again fitment was good
Is it any better / worse than any other battery? Flip a coin. I believe that it is, others will tell you that they are complete crap. As for trimming the battery tray, you don't have to if you buy the right battery. You also don't have to trim the positive battery post, just leave the plastic cap on it!
I don't know if it's any better or worst than any other battery but I do hope that it won't leak like two AC Delcos have.
When the AC Delco leaked in my Vette it make one heck of a mess and even ate the paint off of the outside body panel cover, the one that you remove so you can install the battery. These units can't take the heat and once they leak they don't hold a charge for very long either.
I just bought a second Optima for my 95 Taurus SHO. I had a 13 month old AC Delco in that car and it too leaked from the positive side post/connector and also from around the top of the battery where it joins the side of the battery.
I'll NEVER buy an AC Delco or any other liquid acid battery again. I don't expect to get more than 3 years use out of ANY battery, even the two Ford units that I have in my 2004 F-250 Power Stroke Diesel pickup. When it's time to replace those units I'll go with Optima again.
