Default Installing Hedman Headers on 91

hi, I'm about to start installing some hedman headers on my 91 auto. I was wondering if I could get any advice or what I might need to be expecting as in clearence issues or other problems to expect... I know these are not the best quality, but truthfully I dont care, I can;t afford the best headers and these will still be better then stock setup at least. Since this doesn't have fittings for sensors, I am going to try and relocate my 02 sensor. What is the best way to do this? just after the header, or is there even a better option? and what about the EGR? what should i do with this? I dont know alot about this installation, so any help will be GREATLY appreciated. THankyou, David M.

The problem with the Hedmans is not that they're cheap, sure there are better headers but although Hedman lists them as fitting through '91 they actually do not properly fit the D-port heads used from '88 on. They actually block the top of the port which is the most critical flow area. There is a way around this though. Using a gasket that properly fits the head as a template, you can elongate the bolt holes downward allowing you to move the headers upward thus utilizing the port properly. If your headers aren't coated, as I'm assuming, you can have an O2 bung welded into the collector if you wish. Otherwise you can install it just after, in the connector pipes. Actually, they don't fit too bad, they're not a difficult install. Some of the bolts and plugs will be a little tricky but I've seen much worse. Good luck with it.

They'll work just fine if you move them up a little. Since mine weren't coated, I went the extra step and welded the bolt holes shut and redrilled them lower. I've always had good luck with Hedmans. I've owned four sets of them on various vehicles. I don't think inexpensive price always means cheap quality.

I have been considering these headers. Thanks for the info on the port positioning. Once again, this forum is great.
