The ones that flow exhaust gas away from the the passenger cabin and thru exhaust tubing
Just kidding... but you are opening a giant can of worms with this one. For the record, I plan on getting Hookers because of price. I hear Hedmans are equvalent... but there are also the high $$$ EM's and TPIS headers too. Each will flow about the same and give equal gains... how much do you want to spend is the question?
I see you have a pre-91 Vette from your avatar... Unfortunately I can't make any great recommendations, as I'm not as familiar with the L98 header options... Someone will surely chime in, though, with some helpful info. And some smarta$$es will give their two cents as well - don't let it discourage you. This is a great Forum...
I installed Headman non smog set on my 84 they fit well but little to no clearance for a few of the plugs, even with header plugs #6 is an open wrench only no hopes of a socket.
I run the TPIS coated headers and they fit incredibly well. The price is a little steep, but I feel they're worth it. I changed the starter to a smaller high torque because I thought the headers were too close and eventually the starter would die from the header's heat (even with header wrap).
My thoughts are if you can afford the extra money for the TPIS, get them and make sure you order them coated. It does make a difference.
I put coated/ with smog hook-up TPIS long tubes on my 87 2 weeks ago. They fit the car perfectly. My real concern was the sparkplug angle of my aftermarket heads had the plugs against the stock shorties.
With the new long tubes I have lots of room. No way to burn a plug wire, and the stock looms bolt up. The only problem was expanding the end of the cat to fit theY pipe.
I installed SLP's. Only because I got a hell of a deal on them. Otherwise the $$$ you typically cough up for them would have made me look into hookers..... that doesn't sound right
I heard the TPIS headers hang a little low under the car, for those of you who have them (perhaps anyone with an '89), what are your observations in that regard? I'm only concerned because I'm planning on lowering the car (by no more than an inch, though) and would like to have reasonable ground clearance.

RACE ON!!!
I've searched the Hedman site and could not find a part for the LT4 motor... of course up until today I thought Hooker was making a full length LTx header. OH Screw it!!! I'll just take out a second mortgage and get the Stainless Werks headers.

I have an 85 and don't have that problem (hanging too low). Here's their site:
Me too! No fittament issues. With the hooker Y pipe it was a pretty easy install. Nice thick flanges, means less loosening or gasket leakage. Make sure to get the ceramic coated or have them coated inside and out regardless of what you decide on.

Some people are using L98 long tubes on their LT engines. The header flange is the same. Are the cars that different??? I can't imagine the Hedmans wouldn't work on the LTs.
