I used to drive over to Half-Moon Bay Drag strip night races(south of San Francisco) in the mid-'60's. One night they had match races between Hayden Profitt in his 409 Chevy and the Melrose Missle, 426 hemi/Ply. Profitt won 3 out of three by about a half car length, mainly on hole shots. God those were the days.
