Default alcohol injection question- windshield wiper tank

It's my understanding that this holds about 1 gallon of fluid or so. I was thinking about tapping into it for my alcohol injection system. My question is, should I plug the outlet that the fluid normally goes out of? I'm planning on running a high concentration of menthanol so I'm worried about the fittings, hoses, ect, being eaten up by the stuff.

The only other place that there's even a little room is on top of the radiator housing toward the front of the engine compartement. If I have to use that then I'll probably only be able to hold 2 quarts, which will be gone in seconds.

I'm running the system "stock" with the the "optikleen" concentrate is 50/50 mix for normal use. I doubt that you will have a problem with the hoses etc... you would sure have a clean window if you need to use the washers

As per Mo, a 50/50 mix is more than adequate. Going to more alcohol or meth can and will cause a lean mixture. The same thing happens when they mess up during the winter months for those people stuck with gasoline fortified with ethanol (corn cob fuel). The reason being is that the stoich index of alcohol is double that of gasoline. It takes twice as much alcohol to make the same energy as gasoline.

TJ,

I just posted a thread over at the C5 FI section asking if running meth will richen the mixture and everyone said yes.

I am in the process of tuning the Meth injection by SOTP feel and I have to say it really feels like a richer mix when i have the meth spraying.

If you get a chance check out my thread in the C5 section.

Zelement,

I was also in the process of doing those tests when i took second gear out of my trans

As I remeber it was leaning the mixture out as I was making more power. One of the things I have found is it does somewhat skew the O2 readings a bit... and my knock count went up.

I know that i was definately making more power as I had to increase the nozzle size on my water / alky injection to bring the knock count down I was running 50/50. I just about had it handled when the car went from first bounced of the rev limiter a couple times... HEH... So I'm pulling the trans and off to the shop it goes...

I WILL be BACK!

Zelement,

Thank you :

I'll be on the forum of course, I have to send the trans to NY for a build up. All apart of the risk of running hard

It will be built much better this time!

Feel free to email or pm me anytime.. I'm glad to help...
