OK, I needs some expertice. My 88 front passenger side brake is sticking. All of the other wheels roll free. I have changed out the caliper and pads, no improvement.
The car drives alright, and does not pull, but the rim is covered with brake dust and wheel and caliper is heating up pretty hot from the friction.
Are there proportioning valves anywhere regulating the pressure? Any ideas or help will hopefully get her running well again.
Chances are it is the brake hoses. The interior of the hose swells shut, keeping pressure applied. You may want to verify this by pulling the brake hose loose from the caliper, and then see if your wheel will spin.
BTW, if you are going to change one, change both sides. If one has swelled shut, the other side is not far behind.
The Passenger side front pad is wearing more than the drivers side. Sounds like the hose may be the next on the list to replaced (Will do both).
I thought there was a brake booster inside the cab of the car between the seats. When I start the car I hear a motor run for a second, and I was told that was the brake booster equilizing the brake fluid pressure. Does anyone know if this is true? If so could there be a pressure valve associated with that?
