Checked Jeg's site, $151.99 for either version. If I've understood right, the high voltage path is the weak link in an opti, right?

Yes. The cap/rotor are prone to failure due to accelerated carbon tracing caused by moisture infiltration.
The real solution is a better gasket. A cheap fix? Seal the damned thing in RTV.

I didn't notice that before. I'm sure the early version is what you want though. I see that the late version is listed through '97 too meaning that they are using the years that the LT1 was in the F body. Just an oversight on someone's part.
