Default Fuel Filter on a 93

Anybody know how to replace the fuel filter, without dropping the exhaust?

The fuel filter is located on the passenger side frame rail. I didn't have to drop any exhaust components when I changed mine. Are you having problems reaching it? It's really not a hard job at all, just prepared to get a gas bath...

How to change your fuel filter

The above tech tip should help, not hard and you don't need to remove the exhaust.

It is near the passenger cat, so you'll want to cool it down before working on the fuel filter.

I can't seem to get a wrench on the top bolt, with the cat in my way.

I dropped the cat... gives tons of room that way.

Default Tech Tip

I can't read the instructions in the tech tip and I didn't see any links. Where did this article come from? I need to change my filter too. Thanks in advance,

Keith

Save the pictures of the article in the tech tip to your hard drive and then you can magnify it when you open it. Good Luck

I just changed mine yesterday after getting help from the forum. First bleed the pressure from the fuel rail. Then dissconnect the inlet and outlet from the fuel rail. You will need a special release tool for this but they are cheap. Release the tank pressure by removing gas cap. Jack up the front of car as far as possible. Support with jack stands. Loosen the bottom connection between the filter and line as well as the return line. Some fuel will run out. I put a plastic cap on the line to stop the trickle while I removed the filter and line assembly up through the engine compartment. Another good tip was to not totally remove the filter bracket screw. Just loosen it. It would be a bugger to get it back in with the filter and line in the way.
