Heli-coil update...
that damned disagreeable hole is going to kick me in the ***...
I am sooo pissed right now.
I drilled the hole out, completely.
tapped it...
inserted the coil.
and on 3 separate occasions, it ate the hell out of the bolt and stripped itself out of the hole.
When I finally thought I had it, I torqued a bolt in, on a large nut to emulate the manifold, and it was PERFECT.
Installed the manifold... and these god damned usless coils are good for only one torqueing and then they break loose again!
I just can't believe it... I am going to end up spending more on bolts... just for this one ****ing hole.

Are you using locktight on the Heli Coil?

What bolt type are you using for the intake and heads? Are you re-using the original?

Check the surface of the intake where the bolt head butts up to the manifold and make sure its "flat". That sux!!

After a chat with my best friend and mechanical genius, we have determined a few things...
1) The torque settings in the manual (24-46 ft lbs) are wack. He suggested no more then 30.
2) anti-sieze is very bad.
3) I will try again tomorrow, with fresh eyes and such.
The surface looks great. Not a problem.
I am using conventional hex head bolts, grade 5, zinc plated.

I usually never go more than 25. Can't believe the manual says to torque them that high. No wonder!
