I have the bottom end in and assembled. Rods/crank/cam/timing are all in.
I have one quick question... how much deflection should there be on the timing chain? I have little or none right now. And I have no reference in my Helms manual (or, at least I could not find it).
You shouldn't be able to move the chain much when pressing toward the center of the engine, between the gears. Did you upgrade to a double roller minus the plastic gear?
Sounds good so far. Have you tried turnign the rotating assembly over to check it's movement? ave to put a bolt in the crank and use a socket unless you have the correct crank snout adapter.
glad to hear you're gaining on it. with the timing chain issue-very very little-they do strecth over time.BTW-it's been years since I've went completely thru a motor BUT no plastic gears for me.

I think you should be posting progress pics... but that's just me. I also agree with above that you should have next to no deflection in the chain. Everything sounds like it's coming together rather well.
Never mind responding to just these posts, even through all of this, Bogus finds time to respond to all sorts of posts! Best of luck to you Bogus, will keep my fingers crossed for you when your ready to turn the key! Sounds good... So what's T driving around in right now while you have her baby apart???
She is driving a 1987 or so Acura Legend. It's her aunts car.
Update for today... I was finishing the torquing of the intake, when I had one of the threads quit... it's the first one on the right bank. It's the closed hole, this is good, the helicoil will dig in better.
Did you run a thread chaser through before installing?
(It is a thread chaser I am thinking of right?, either way you know what I mean, not really mentally all here right now)

Actually, I did. In this case, I used a tap. The threads were messy, so I ran the tap down, cleaned it very nicely, I thought. Tested the hole with a bolt and it went perfectly.
