Default Correct air/fuel ratio?

I got the results from a couple of dyno runs and the air/fuel ratio seems to be a lot richer than I would have guessed. It was measured between 10.5 and 11.8 rather than the 14.7 that I expected. I'm assuming that there would be some variation, but that seems a bit much. Is this normally what you would see on a dyno run at wide open throttle? This is a 1996 LT4 with minimal mods (shorty headers, B&B exhaust). Mucho Thanks!

I would say normally aspirated you would want to be around 13.8 ish.. 14.7 is for cruise / idle.

Is your air filter clean? ~just checking~ at WOT it can somewhat effect it if its real dirty.

Hope thid helps

Thanks, Mo. The air filter is a relatively new K&N. I was wondering if the oxygen sensors could be old/off. I've got around 80k miles on the car and I imagine that the sensors are that old, but I'm not sure since I'm probably the 3rd owner.

I would say they are probably "ok" they shouldn't put you that rich... mine are originals too HEH

THe factory tends to program the cars pig rich to pass emissions. I would look to shoot for about 850 mv on the O2's.

do you have LT1 edit? ( It works with LT4's as well)

You could trim the fuel some...

Hmm. I don't have LT1 edit. I'll check it out. I might try opening up the intake for a run/measurement and see what that does also. Thanks for the pointers.

Not sure about the LTx (not sure why it'd be different) but most people shoot for a 12.7-13.1 WOT AFR on a NA motor.

Seems that 12.5 -12.75 is "safer" and you are still maximizing torque & power......you might get a little more at 13.1 but with a higher risk of troubles......this is for WOT

14.7 is for cruising looking for max economy & minimal pollution....in feedback loop using O2 sensors...
