Ok.... I'm just about finished with my recent project and need to know what to expect and how to deal with it..
I just removed all of my smog stuff from my '90 L98 and blocked off my EGR. I installed long tube headers, AFPR, 52mm T-Body, water bypass, Corsa LT1 exhaust system and removed the cats..
My question for the Pro's is - Now that the car has no cats or smog stuff - do I just plug the vacuum for the EGR? I'm sure the check engine light will come on - what do I do about that?
Before I started this project, the car was running rough - I took it to a local shop and they did a diagnostic (sp) check and told me it was the EGR... I brought it home and decided to remove the smog stuff...
Do I need to have a special chip burned for it or jump some wires to keep it from throwing codes?
You will have to remove the chip and send it to someone who burns them and have the EGR turned off. It would also be a good idea to tell him what other mods you have done to your car so he could incorporate that also into the chip burn. Check out www.azzatochips.com his name is Jesse he's real good!

Any help would be great!
chips do not have to be burned... an article that was written by 65zo1 has referrnence to this issue. a diode is placed from gray wire to green wire of the egr sensor.. this puts the signal to ground,, tricking ECM to think its working with a EGR..
the only vacuum lines that really need to be there:
1) from plentum to brake booster
2) from plentum to Fuel REG
3) line from rear main wiring harnes to plentum, splits on to cruise control, it splits and continues to fuel vapor canister.
4) remove and block ERG
5) remove and cap top vaccum line of throttle body (passenger side) to valve cover . replace with air breather
6) remove and block erg sensor
