Default 87 HVAC controls

Anyone have tips on the HVAC controls? Mine is intermittent, both the lights and the display. What would be a prime suspect, circuit board, power, switch, ??????. As long as it's warm and the top is off who cares ... but on those cold drives to work in winter it's kinda important. Sometimes it gets right toasty and it's hard to futz with it to lower the setpoint when you can't see the display.

Typical problem. Take it apart and resolder the cracked solder joints. There are a couple of large diameter eyelets that are filled with solder and these solder joints crack. Check all the other joints under magnefication.

I was trained in Electronics repair in the mid 70s .... glad to see it will come in handy again.

Could be just dirty, corroded connections too-that was my problem.

That fixed my problem. Touched up the solder joints.
