96 Rear spring replacement
Is it as easy to r&r rear spring as it looks or is there a trick to switching them out?
Do I need the spring compressor as the service manual states?

Easy.
No spring compressor is required.
Jack the car up as normal, support with stands. You do have to drop the exhaust.
Using the floor jack, place the pad under the end of the spring, remove the bolt and then lower the jack. Repeat for other side.
Easy. Remove the center bolts and your done.
You may want to do U-joints whilst in there... it's easy, too.
It all depends on mileage and abuse.

How much mileage and abuse should I perform prior to u-joint install?

MAKE SURE TO GET YOUR FLOOR JACK UNDER THE STEEL PORTION AT THE END OF THE SPRING.

I didn't have to remove mine, althought it does make it easier, but you can wiggle a spring in and out with it installed.
