Long-term short block storage
I now have my 396 in and running and need to clean up my garage. What is the best way to store the original short block? I have an engine bag to wrap it up in. Just spray it down food with oil and oil down the cylinders?? Please advise.

I use tranny fluid for storage, I find it easier to see on the cylinder walls. Oil it down, do the cylinders and deck at least. The outside of the block isn't as crucial. Might want to spray some WD40 in the coolant passages before you oil the block, help get any moisture out of there. Then put it in the bag with some dessicant and check it once a month.
