The NHRA tech man said " the cage must enclose the driver" my bar was very close to what you have , w/ the top mounts on the seat belt mounts . NHRA said the cage must go to the floor even if the frame is high like on a vette. Hope you dont get hammered like I did.
Me too, as there isn't any way you could take em to the floor. Unless you like driving with the seat all the way forward and the steering wheel 2 inches from your face. Surely there has to be exceptions to the rule .Our local track is Ihra and I know one of the owners. He's a reasonable guy, he should'nt have a problem with it. But alas if we go to another track and they wanna be dicks about following rules to the letter, then Ill have to bend up whatever it takes to appease them.
How Rick is installing Bruce's cage is exactly like everyone else in the world (pretty much) that has put one in a C4. I've never read anywhere that there was a problem at the track with this set up... Like Rick said.. if they are jerks..go somewhere else..
I hope there won't be any issues with ORR racing either 'cause I really, really, really, really, really, really really, want to hold my car wide open for like 20 or 30 seconds across the desert at one of those ORR events. I think I can hit 250+ in my coupe without much trouble. and yes my car is gonna be full cage, not just a 6 point (I don't wanna die yet) I even bought a truck to haul it out there with.

What kind of rear gear/rear tire diameter are you going to run? At anything above 200 you have to start worrying about things like your windshield and side windows getting sucked out.. As currently configured my car is only good for 200mph (3:73 gear. 24.5" tire).. which is fast enough for me.... for now...
3.45 in the rear and 27.5 dia tire should do the job. There are a few aero hurdles to cover. like is my rear tunnel diffuser okey dokey at that speed? I dunno. Also for the window issue would it be better to use nascar style straps on the windshield or should I devise a pressure equalization system? I dunno yet. I guess I should make friends with an aerodynamicist. My best bet I guess is to slowly creep up on it. there have been more than a few 200+mph c4's. I'll just study what has been done so far and go from there. Ive done 175 in 5th (uh I mean on the dyno, yea thats it) and it felt solid as a rock. i hope it feels that good 25,50, and 75mph faster than that.

nope, our 68 stocker has the bar welded at the higher point of the frame and passes
