Automatic? If so.. Take a small, thin flat blade screwdriver and slide it between the center button and the inside of the shift **** wall (from the top) and slightly wedge it and pull up - the center button should pop out. You will then see a snap ring inside on the bottom of the ****, remove that ring and the **** will come off.
