A friend of mine purshased a 94 vette at a salvage auction with no keys. The dealership is telling him that it does not use the vats key. I was under the inpression that 84-96 all used the vats sysyem. Can anyone shed some light on this issue. Thanks
I believe they had them unless someone installed a bypass kit. You'll need a locksmith who has a device (can't think of the name of it-someone help me out here)that reads the amount of resistance in the ign. cyl. so you get the correct pellet for your key. The resistance values are as follows:
1-0.402
2-0.523
3-0.681
4-0.887
5-1.130
6-1.470
7-1.870
8-2.370
9-3.010
10-3.740
11-4.750
12-6.040
13-7.500
14-9.530
15-11.801
Edit: I believe the name of the device is called the Interrogator

This resistance list is mostly correct, as long as you remember there should be a K behind each value. As example, #5 is not 1.130 ohm but 1,130 ohms.
