I'm sure there are as many different answers as there are sanctioning bodies and types of racing. The C4 is definitely not a unibody though. It has a stout, full frame. It's just incapsulated within the body.
The rocker bar runs parallel to the "frame" rail, between the frame rail and the side bar that must pass between the shoulder and elbow. Goes between the front upright or A pillar bar and the main hoop.
This isn't for your average 5 or 6 point roll bar. This is for a sportsman cage in a vehicle running between 9.99 and 8.50. Between 136 mph and 149 mph the rocker bar isn't required. You also need a "knee" or dash bar that runs across the car if running over 150. These were the requirements for a full bodied car with a stock floor and firewall from IHRA in 2003 when I built the cage in my Regal.
