I had my oil changed on Saturday. They tried to sell me a fuel injector cleaning. I didn't go for it. The car has 123000 miles. Does it need it?
Thanks
I sent my 100k mile LT1 injectors to Rich @ cruzin and the car runs like new now. Wish I would've done it sooner and it makes much more sense than replacing them.
I use SeaFoam for occasionally removing carbon and cleaning my injectors-this stuff really works, been using it for over 10 years, on
all my cars, trucks and boats.
Don't even bother with that stuff; when they need cleaning send them to Rich at Cruzin Performance.
Absolutely agree!! Rich does a terrific job, quick turnaround, reasonable price - doesn't get much better! I'm fixin' to send my second set to him shortly.
Be careful using strong solvents on the early L98 injectors as the fuel flow cools the solenoid windings and can deteriorate the insulation to the point where the injectors can fail.
If you are going to use such a cleaner, check the resistance of each injector before and after cleaning. That way you will notice any such failure before it can cause problems.
They didn't run all those commercials on TV trying to convince consumers to purchase their gas until AFTER this event.
I use B12-Chemtool in my gas to clean the sulfur off my sending unit and out of my injectors.
I also run Marvel oil in my gas as a upper cylinder lubricant/cleaner.
Sure I'll get 'flamed' for that but 'ce la vie'.
Read the link about Shell Gas. Not defending Shell or doubting people had problems with the gas. But how can high sulpher content "break a gas gauge"?? ARKVETTE
Just got mine back from Rich at Cruzin. He is a standup guy and will take care of you. My car had 70,000 and two injectors failed the leak down test. I would suggest sending them in to Rich. BTW at the end of the process Rich sends you a nice printout of your injectors and what they use to flow and what they flow now.
my car is real hard to start when cold, and i been thinking its a fuel problem, i was trying to figure out if the fuel system cleaning service that the jiffy lube offers is worth 50 bucks. they said (paraphased) that they "force feed cleaning solvent into the cylinder heads and add a bottle of fuel additive to the gas tank" or something along those lines.
im not very knowledgeable about these things, give me a hint please?
OK, I followed the link and what I read said that Shell sold some gas that they bought form a company called Motiva and that when they found it was high in sulphur they stood up and said here's the stations with that gas.... the point?
Sorry to hijack the thread

What they do is disconnect the vacuum from the power steering and hook it up to a can to clean intake and valves. I tried it did not help alot but did run a little better. Definately not a cure all for dirty/leaky injectors but it is your(and was my)money.
yea see, thats kinda what i thought.... i looked over the cruzin page and it looked squeaky clean, real nice, but im not comfortable breaking the magical seal on the engine
wooooOOOOooooOOOOOooooo
im okay with tires, oil, brakes, alternator etc.... but ive never opened any of my cars up before so the idea of disabling my baby is giving me the chills.
The rail and injectors are not a big deal might be a little hard getting them out at first.I am getting ready to put new injectors in and it can be done by removing 4 bolts(or so I have been told) just do some searches here and you will find the info you need. Search for my questions and you will find all you need to do it. If you dont have a Factory service manual get one from eBay or helms they are a big help. Yeah she will be down for a few days if you send them to be cleaned at Cruzin but from what I have read no one has been dissapointed.
Your problem may not be the injectors anyway it might be the Idle Air Control you need to get a fuel pressure gauge that hooks up to the fuel rail and check for pressure once again search the forums. It could also be the fuel line check valve. After you have the gauge on turn on your key is should jump up and then turn it off if the check valve is bad it will got down pretty fast if it is a injector not so fast should hold pressure for a little while. I am new to 'Vettes myself and have learned a lot here the guys are really good.

Would a car with 38k miles need them cleaned? does this guy Rich have a website?
jsut figured it might not be a bad idea 38k on a 95 isn't a lot of miles to it kinda sits a couple weeks here and there and the gas might cause mine to clog sooner than if it was driven more.
