Default Stuck in defrost

My air conditioning is stuck in defrost and keeps blowing out there and not in the front vents. Tried pressing the buttons to manually change it to the front vents, and it won’t do it if I press auto button. I was wondering if I am just missing something or if I need to start taking parts off. Just got the car a couple of weeks ago so new to the car but other than that loving every bit of it thanks for all the help.

Welcome to the forum, you will learn a lot here and meet a bunch of great folks.

For your problem, there is a vacuum valve next to the oil pressure/temp gauge located in the rear of the engine at the top, if this valve is bad, the doors will not function in the A/C system.

Wow .... great answer ! I've got the same problem and was wondering where to start looking. Now, does anyone have a pic of exactly where and what this vacuum valve looks like ?
Thanks

Check your vacuum lines and fittings coming off your intake manifold also. 1993--that's 11 years of heat and drying out. The plastic fittings become brittle and break.
