Default Need help taking Interior Door Panels off

Alright,

I've been at this for 2 hours. I can't get the door panels off. I've followed the advice I've been given, I've removed every screw I can.

Specifically, where I can't get is the area with the door handle out, and specifically, the bottom right corner. Is there some trick to removing the plastic slide lock piece that I'm not aware of? Is there another screw hiding somewhere down there?

Thanks guys,
Joe

Don't give up that quick. You should be able to pull off the lock slide handle. Pull or pry it towards you. Only screws hold the bottom on and maybe some white sealant. Here is a link that may help.

Although helpful, its very similiar to the discussion in my manual. My car is a '91, so it's a little further off in the area where I need it - the door handle bezel.

I appreciate the help though. : )

hey man pull that lock piece off by putting it the unlocked pos...and pull the triangle shaped end. there is a screw under it.
then you slowly slide the door handle bezel over the handle and don't forget the wire routing (take pics they help!)
pull the window switch out. there is a screw in there holding the armrest on.
then with the window down you lift the whole panel off grab hold of the bottom
pull out about 3-4 inches and thenlift straight up don't yank it!! you have a couple of connectors to unplug...the hatch release and the windows. hope that's everything
(off the top of my head)
good luck if you need help give me a call on my cell...i'll pm you the number.
...i'm in hawaii but i could easily walk you through it.

If you get it apart I recommend temporarily taping up any openings like the pull cup to keep those little screws from falling inside the door, which happened to me several times last weekend while re-installing the door panel on my 96 GS.

Had the same problem, but I found I had not removed all the screws.

The locations around the handle are:

1 behind the mechanical lock bar (pry the plastic off as described in the above post)

1 in front of the handle pull

1 behind the door light above the handle (remove light assembly, pry out from top)

Just remembered that on the passenger side there is a small bolt that is behind the window switch, remove switch for access.

Then just the outer screws to the panel, voila!

Not too bad when all the screws are removed.

I hope I understand which piece you are trying to remove.....on my 94 the door lock 'slider' (this is the piece you can slide to lock the doors)snaps on a rod (which extends back to the latch). You just carefully pop the slider off the rod.

Good luck!

I got frustrated earlier and put it down for a while. Best to come back to it later instead of breaking it and crying. ; )

Edit- I appreciate all the advice guys. I'm going to go at it again tomorrow.

Here's a tech tip I did on replacing the outer window seals. Should help you in removing the door panels.
