My anti lock warning lite is on constantly---I need to know if anybody knows of a very good Corvette mechanic in the Cincinnati area. My car is a 1989 TPI auto. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had that problem once and it turned out to be low brake fluid in the resovoir; as the pads wear the fluid level drops which in turn lowers the sensor and the light comes on. drove me nuts but all it took was a little fluid added. Check the fluid level, you never know!

What kind of rims do you have on? Do you have the stock rims on? If not are they newer rims such as sawblades and such ? Well the reason I ask is because on my 87 when I bought it, it had sawblades on it. The light remained on for the 4 years that I had it. I then changed wheels with adaptors and my abs light went off. I learned that without proper wheel dimension and tire diameter.. the light can go on. If you got newer rims on such as sawblades.. check to see if you got adaptors on. That could be it... otherwise if not then its something else thats causing it to come on.
Everything was fine until I had major engine work done. The problem I had was a rough idle and stalling engine. I had to replace all eight injectors and a few other things. Ever since I got it running good the anti lock warning lite has been on.

The 89 ABS system is very simple compared to the later versions. Like my 88 your 89 does not set codes. It's either working or it sets the ABS light. As suggested, check the brake fluid level in th emaster cylinder. Also, check the 4 ABS wheel speed sensors in the knuckle of each wheel. The sensors are held in by a single screw with a 10mm head. Remove each one and clean with WD-40. The knuckle housing is open to the road where the sensors are and the sensors are strong magnets. If they pick up enough metallic debris, it will cause them to read incorrectly, setting the ABS light.
It is also possible that for some reason, the mechanic disconnected the ABS controller from the ABS wiring connector and didn't re-seat it properly. The ABS system is under the storage tray behind the driver seat in the 86-89 coupes. Pull out the tray and sound deadening batting material and check that no wires or connectors are loose.
What specifically did the mechanics do? Did they have to weld anything? This can burn out the diode in the ABS controller harness if it wasn't isolated or disconnected. Did they have reason to remove the wheels or move ABS sensors? They may have broken a sensor wire or not reseated the sensor correctly.
