Guys I really need help with this one. If anybody has any idea what is going on, please help! When ever I start the 93 it kicks back like the timing is off. Check the chain and in good condition. But replaced it any way. same problem. Could this be my optic crap going out for the third time? Please help. It also takes a long time to sart and backfires when it does. Some time it takes 3-4 tries before it starts. I hope I don`t break my sarter housing. Please let me know something.

Well since you've verified cam timing, ignition timing is all that's left. How's it run otherwise, power seem normal? Yes checking for codes and data-logging would be the next step, I'd say.
Is it back firing thru exhaust or intake? I'd double check the timing-and spark plug wires to make sure there on in the right order.Did you disconnect the ESC before setting initial timing?
The best way I can describe the kick back, is that it acts like timing that is set to high. I have added the vented optic spark system. The only code was a code that had to do with my r/bank oxgen sensor. I have new accel 8.8 mm wires and split fire plugs. What would I have to change to put in a regular distributor?
dude, you ain't putting a "conventional" distributor on an LT1. It just ain't gonna happen.
Do you have access to a scan tool? I think you need to watch the timing change... I would love to see those numbers.
The kickback, I think I have a grasp... it's like that thump that happens when the timing is too advanced at startup. The problem is that the timing is controled by the ECM. So that is not possible, unless there is something wrong with either the optispark or the timing gear behind it. Meaning, the cam drive is off somehow. I have not been into that facet of the LT1 - yet - so I am not sure.
Do you have a Helm manual? www.helminc.com - they publish the GM factory service manual.
