Installed transmission cooler.
I placed the cooler on the AC condenser up in front of the primary fan, 3 weeks ago.

Then ran the hoses out the right side of the upper radiator shroud thinking the return line was the top one, NOT… it’s the bottom, not having the time to hook it up I just left it.
So after 3 weeks of thinking about it I finally engineered the plumbing. Used a 20” stick of pre-flared and fitted 5/16th tubing, ran it up from the lower radiator cooler outlet and connected it to the cooler hose.
Purchased a tubing bender for the job (always looking to new buy tools). Took some time and used coat hanger wire to get the bends just right.

Luckily, I was able to bend the transmission return tube up and attach the hose from the cooler. The main objective was to not have the tubing and hose rub on anything, but where it did I installed some black plastic wire loom.

This job was a little more work than I had anticipated but it’s finished and looks good.
This is a job I would like to do to my '91 coupe. But I don't understand the bit about the tubing. It appears from your photo that you are running regular rubber lines to the trans oil cooler. Why did you decide to use steel tubing instead of just connecting the rubber lines to the radiator and transmission return line? Also, I am not sure I understand your point about the upper line not being the correct take-off point for your new cooler.
Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

I used the rubber hose that came in the cooler kit, when I placed the cooler on the condenser I thought the return line was the top one, it is not. I had already cut the hose to go to the top line.
So I need more line to get down to the bottom line (trany return). I figured that steel line would be better than more rubber hose so I used that comming out of the radiator up to feed the short rubber cooler line. Then I was able to bend/reposition the trany return line up to the hose comming out of the cooler.
It is best to have the cooler in the return line (after the radiator) so it can remove any heat picked up in the radiator. This is as-per the instructions supplied with the cooler.
Hope this helps,
Denver..
