Do you regret your mods?
I stopped for a second and thought about what I have built. When the car was mostly stock I used to take out the car and run the crap out of it, and I never really thought about it breaking because it rarely did. I drove it everyday for years and I loved it even though it wasn't the fastest thing on the road. Now I don't drive it that hard for fear of breakage. It is always something. (I'm sure there are some that know what I mean) I regret modding my 92, I hope I won't regret modding the 91. Anyone regret your major mods?

ya I hear you....I'm looking at a 90 corvette(17,000 miles) so I have something to injoy on long trips without the fear of breaking down and when the 85 is down for repairs(most of the time). but then I think what the heck do I need two vets for............it's a disease once you start you can't stop.............but with that said there isn't many around here that can keep up..what a gas to drive that beast.

well mine has 132,000 miles on it, and before I broke the trans... I was having a great time. I gues it is part of the risk of hi performance.
No regrets, just parts getting more expensive HEH

I have a 94 and juice it ,wanted to get into the 11's been their done that. It's my daily driver with 90,000 and After I replaced the trans I take it easy.
Now I have an 86 I beat the crap out of it ,juice it and that is more fun .
If it breaks so what, that is why I bought a $2500.00 86 vet to beat it up. :By the way it turns 12's and all stock .

Well, that Time working vs Time Driving ratio has gotten ALOT worse since I started modding the car. I've actually thought of picking up a cheap camaro or (shhhhh) mustang just to have a backup fast car for when the vette is out of order. But when I think of the extra few grand that I could have dumped into the vette that thought goes out he windwow

Most of the fun things in life don't make much economic sense... that's why they are called "fun"... Don't forget to live life once in a while. As long as you are not spending your grocery or kids' college money on your hot rod, no harm done...

My only regret was trying to build a $15000 motor while putting myself thru college. Thats why I havent driven it in almost 2 years. mainly becasue I refuse to cut corners so it takes longer to save for the expensive stuff. But I know when I finish it will be a refined, reliable ares kicker that You will need to wear a diaper to ride in it.
i was happy for a while with 440hp but used to run across faster (like the damn zo6) cars every now and then. Soon noone (short of very few turbo cars/bikes) can tangle with Big red. Not even sportbikes. makes me feel like I have 6 more inches of johnson.

That is a regret I don't have! Yes - I admit, I've blown a shiitload of money on modding my car. Is it a waste. Damn right. Does it pay off everytime she goes WOT? Every SINGLE time.
What other modification does my car need? A garage in Florida - this damn snow is KILLING me!!

Man you guys are lucky with all that snow I wish we had some here in Oregon. I got a seasons ski pass and I haven't even taken my damn pass picture yet But back to the original thread......I don't have any regrets for doing what I did to my car. Although I don't drive it near as much as I should, I throughly enjoy it when I do drive her. In fact I am working on a new engine for it now. Larger T trim blower, bigger heads, bigger cam and well hopefully lots more Hp as well. And I most likely won't regret this one either.....except maybe I should have saved the cash and put it down on a new ZO6.....but then them car payments don't sound like much fun either........

I've got some real mixed feelings. about 5 years ago I wanted to make a killer street car. I wanted to look over, see that they had street tires, then not be embarrassed anywhere under 100 mph.
And do it so it's bullitproof. So, forged parts, upgrated tranny, cryo-treated and blueprinted driveline, upped the cooling, I've done EVERYTHING.
Now I'm closeing in on getting it back on the road (stuck governor in tranny blew out input drum...needed fixin + 3.54 rearend + rebuilt driveline), and for just a second, felt the cold fear of NOT having anything to do to the car.
Then reality intruded - it still needs tuning, paint, a top, a hardtop, slicks, and then, perhaps, that dose of NOS I originally built the motor for.

When everything is good hell know i dont regret anything and when i win a race feels so damn good! but when times are ruff and i lost my job and was dumping debt like hot cakes i so regretted blowing 5K on blower 5k on motor 1k on gears 1k on exhaust list goes on and one...
So this is how justify it
Good time...love the vette
Bad Time...regret, regret, regret!
but i have that damn virus keeps me spending money like i am rich or something? Thin line between love and hate....
