Default nitrous on stock bottom end

I have a 93 with ported heads, hotcam, and long tube headers. Currenty it puts out 354 rwhp with a generic fastchip. Im getting it dyno tuned march 12th.
My question is, am I asking for trouble if I add nitrous to it? Also what would be a safe level to add? Thanks in advance for any advise.

If you stay at 100hp and lower you should be ok, anything higher and you're playing with fire.

350rwhp? I saw your track times in your sig, dang you're running just as good as my old 393ci. Impressive. What type of exhaust are you running?

Nope, as long as you install all of the proper safety equipment.

Also what would be a safe level to add?
As mentioned, 100 shot wet is completely safe (without even pulling timing) on good gas.

You should be able to shave off a second or more from your N/A time with a 100 shot.

Im running stock exhaust from the headers back, but no cats. I am just not convinced that there is much to be gained from aftermarket exhaust on a LT1.

Hey Cprgmr, After I get my dyno tune I am going to write a long letter about my tuning experience. (and you know what Im talking about) I purchased a chip reader, tunercat and data master. Its amazing what some jokers charge for and what you get. My custom tune actually has very little done other then the constants changes ie fans on at xx temps etc. No ve table changes or any of the stuff that causes a rich condition on these cars.
I got a copy of Nathans chip and actually it works well. His is set for 1.7 rockers, 52mm throttle body, and a different exhaust. I just am going to get a dyno tune to get the most out of it, and then off to the track for some real numbers.

My best is 11.21 at 121.mph and I am all stock(125 shot) .
I would check your cam lobe seperation see if it is around 112 to 114 if not I would not run nitrous.
Or I would retard 1 1/2 degrees for every 50 shot to be safe.
The chip is usualy advanced and that is bad for nitrous.
I run 106 unleaded fuel , I don't need to retart as much.

That is good advise on retarding the timing. I have the hotcam which is 112 on seperation.
I once heard that you shouldnt push the stock pistons over 450-500 hp. I figure I am at 420-430 flywheel hp now. (354rwhp) and I didnt want to blow it up in the spring and then spend most of the summer getting it back together.
