Are there bulbs in the back of the dash panel for the 85 digital dash? The upper right corner is dark. The panel works because the display is visible but at night the corner is dark and I can't see the gauges. If I take out the cluster, are there bulbs to replace? If so, what do I need to replace them and how do I take it apart?! Instructions would be helpful. Thanks.
Remove the plastic bezel dash piece, you'll see the dash unit. Then you'll notice the 4 silver tabs on it, there is a bulb under each. The silver tabs turn a little and come out. You do not have to remove the dash unit.
The bulbs are Sylvania 882. Do NOT touch the bulbs with your fingers, skin oils cause them to burn out much faster.
pull the bulbs straight out,do not twist them or the holder they go in will fall out the back, then you will have to remove the cluster to put them back in.
882's are quartz-iodine lamps and you can touch them all you want, BUT,.......before putting them in service, remove your fingerprints with a Q tip and alcohol.
I would suggest to replace them all sinse you have it out anyway.
Ive found its best to seperate the boards and replace the socket and bulb. I had a small flicker in one when I just did the bulb. The socket is what actually contacts the board.
