The wires for the harness come in the kit.
Look at the long silver conectors with the white red and black wires .
It's in the box sealed in a bag.
Just so you know the hook up is mickey mouse and not like my clean install on my LT1.
YOu will need a lot of wire to install this right.
You will also need to remove your dist cap and see how many pins you have on the module.
I think it's 5 or 7 pin for the correct instructions.

I dont know if this will happen with non-optispark vettes but I had 3 MSD digital 6 plus's fail on me leaving me stranded on one occasion on a 45 MPH two lane country road at night with no berm. Im lucky to be alive.

Heres what would happen. I installed the digital 6 plus -according to instructions. It would work fine for maybe a week and then everything would suddenly die. Not cool. Id have to bypass it to get the car to work again. Id take it back to summit racing, throw a new unit in and the same thing would happen. It would work fine for a week then die.
I originally got it for its retard function for when i spray nitrous. Turns out I didnt need retard anyways.

The Digital 6 plus is a garbage trash product at least on optispark corvettes. So you might be ok since your 85 is not an optispark..

It seems to me that other C4's ran fine on it and also the MSD 6AL seems to be an ok choice as well (even on optispark vettes).

Im not the only person on here with MSD Digital 6 plus problems. Good luck in your decision.

Optispark or no has nothing to do with it.

I've been running the digital six for about 3 years now with no problems. It gets water dumped on it every time it rains or I wash the car.

I know too many people who have good luck with MSD products to call them trash. They are a very good company to deal with, maybe they just had a bad production run.

The ultimate question though is this.... Do you need it? I use it because it provides a better rev limiter than the stocker does. If your car is stock though there really isn't much use in it.

This comment is EXACTLY what happened to me in my 93. It is like I wrote it. Most good speed shops will agree! I also went through 3 digital 6 units and two MSD 6AL's.

I see Nathen has posted his comments about MSD. I respect Nathen's knowledge but all I know is mine did not work, again and again.

Most of my work has been don at MTI in Houston, a very respectable and competent shop. MTI gave up on my MSD box. I was using this to retard for nitrous. MTI told me not to spray with our a retard.

Most likely because they built my engine and did not want the responsibility of recommending nitrous without retard. In checking around some advise is to spray up to 100HP without retard others say no.

I am lost at this point with my nitrous system and have not used it since the continuous failure of MSD. Very frustrating but I will not try andother MSD box. "I'd rather leave home without it" - at least I will get home.

Any comments form the experts will be appreciated.

msd dIGITAL 6+. Here is .02 when I have digital 6 box install not by pass the tach filter, my tach is pumping up and down, but I drive the car anyway for a few months. At a few ocassion it left me stranged. When that happened I then disconect the box and the car will start right up without any problem. When the box got me stranged twice, I call MSD and sent the box to them to check out because I thought the box is bad. They did a TEST on the box 24hrs test run and they found the box is fine and they sent it back to me. I got the box and installed on to the car again. within week my car die again.

When I finally found the darn tach filter and bypass it. My tach is working properly and ever since I have not had any problem what so ever. The box is works like a champ, never have a stranged me because of the box. So I assumed all the problems other people talking about must be associate with the tach filter. At least it was mine problem. Other than that would I buy it again?? absolutely will buy it again.

There is a $15 GM HEI harness that makes the job a lot easier than with the hareness that comes with the unit itself. All C4s are 7-pin connectors.

I concur with scorp, if you must go the digital 6 route, a plug and play harness was available for my 93.

It made the installation cake.

But again, see red-y s and my comments.

Id again try to think what do you need it for. After my experiences its another piece in the loop to malfunction (and in my case 3 separate units did).

I just find it odd everyone is having bad production runs. Optima batteries, MSD units, etc.

I think theres a lot of aftermarket garbage out there that has been hastily thrown together to capture marketshare from the 'Fast and Furious' crowd.

On the flipside, I had an old 1994-vintage MSD 6 on my points distributer 1972 Pontiac Lemans 400. To this day it still runs fine.

The Digital 6 plus though has issues - at least on 1993 corvettes.

When your car dies remember this thread and unplug and bypass so you can get home.
