I am down the last few parts I need to start assembling my LT1 project. What oil pump do I need for this engine? (LT1 bored .030" over, stock crank (balanced w/rods,pistons & flex plate) ,Eagle rods,Hyperuretic pistons 10.8-1,#304 Comp cam
lightly ported stock LT1 heads,TPIS LT headers, lightly ported stock intake.)
Do all sbc oil pumps interchange with the LT1 or are they different?
I want to go the least expensive route, but I don't want "CHEAP" either.
I went with the canton oil pump hight volume not high presure, hardened shaft.Use your bolt for the oil pump not the stud and nut even with lock tight the stud and nut are to short and will fall out.
Just a word to the wise,I have not had much luck with hyperpuke pistons.
I would get forged anything pistons.
I used this pump from More performance ,Blueprinted M55A, with there oil saver plate. It was a little more expensive but it came with the pick up tac welded in place and the pump is a blu printed pump. They use it for all of there high HP motors and they build some of the best LT1 383/396 motors in the business.
