Update on the machines...
Been working all weekend on the cars. Dad's mostly, intalled his new aluminum Dart CNC 335cc heads flowing ~400 CFM onto the chevelle.
Boy all I have to say is I wish our vette's were as friendly to work on as his car.
Mine's not too bad...it just seems on these cars there is a MILE around anything - except for his headers and sparkplugs.Yesterday we got the car up to the dealership and started taking it apart. Needed a few things in at my place, so I said, "I'll take the vette in since its been revamped with the T350 and new cam I had not driven it. The roads were FINALLY clear of snow and slop, so I anxiously fired it up, and took it for the first real test drive.
I was expecting the converter to be looser than it feels. Left my foot off the brake and in the snow in the parking lot, the car fish tails with the wheels spinning, trying to gab and ounce of traction. Got out on the clear roads and the tranny shift much like my Pro-Built 700r4. The whole car has a MUCH free-er feel to it. And much smoother for some reason than it did before. The exhaust note seems to be cut in 1/2 while in the car. Its pretty damn loud outside though
I drove the car into town about 4 miles and a few times got on it. The fuel is WAY WAY leaner than before (have not have any time to tune it yet). But it has some serious pull to it.
I roasted the tires a few times from about a 45+ roll - and barely any real amount of gas. I want to say it feels like its making more power - but I seldom rely on seat of the pants. To me the car just feels like its smoother and much more powerful.
I was pleased at the way the car drove and look for it to make some good track times.
Back to Dads machine. Well here is what we started off with. The merlin Grumpy Jenkins 310cc Iron Heads. Flowing about 345CFM. The heads were pretty good, but weighted a TON each. Well really they weighted 83lbs each! 166lbs for both of them!

That weight reduction off the noce of the car is probably like loosing 400 lbs off the rear of the car in terms of launching improvement. The car is so front heavy that this should prove very valuable in getting the launches down. Not to mention the ~140hp more they will make should give the car on the launches that EXTRA umph to keep the wheels hangin past the 60' mark
Here is a shot of the new equipment. The carb is upgraded from an 870 CFM to a 1095 CFM KIng Demon - and naturally the heads.
The car is sitting ~2" higher in the front now! Those heads were rediculous heavy. The new ALuminum heads are 34lbs each. We lost 98lbs off the front.

And lastly I had to take a picture of the way we are storing the cars at the dealership. I said to Dad, we will probably come out here tomorrow to another race race car "One Pissed off Chevette." ...........Get it, Chevelle/Corvette or maybe it would be a Corvelle.....Nevermind.
Will keep you posted on the progress the of cars. Going to take a day or so off, I am heading to Pittsburgh tomorrow to get my eyes mapped out for the laser to get them fixed.

If it's not an 8980 what is it? Anyway those both are some badass cars!

Talked to Corky the other day. Said he's waiting on the rods.

The block is getting machined, which should be done about the same time as the Rods getting in. At which time it will get mocked up, and sent back for rebalance- then we can put it all together.
I am going to start taking yours apart here in the next week or so. I will take pictures and let you know how it all goes. I will let you know about the throw-out bearing that is making noise also.
Man, you guys work all the time, i just get tired after a while.
