speedo jumps erratically under 5 mph
I installed Autometer gauges in the dash and completely removed the 84 instrument cluster. The speedo works fine while driving and appears to be as accurate as the stock version when tested against those speed monitors the cops leave on the side of the road sometimes....
my only issue is that the speedo will erratically spasm back and forth (don't quote me out of context on this one) when braking under 5 mph or so (it literally pegs at 160 and bounces around for a second before going back to normal).
My question: is this a bad connection or a sign that the VSS needs to be replaced? I figure the voltage is good enough to work at all normal speeds and idle, but it's only acting up during very slow decelleration which makes me wonder if there isn't some interference in the signal somewhere....
