Fuel Tank question...
On my '85 L98...
If you look in the fuel tank, you'll see a yellow plastic(?) tray fastened to the bottom. What is the purpose of this? Can it be removed?
the reason I ask is that mine has come loose and is swimming around in the tank (to make a long story short).

If memory serves me, the sock fits into it. I believe it is an anti slosh baffle.

Hmm... I thought the fuel level sender fit into it, but I can't tell anymore- so you may be right.
Would it mainly serve a purpose if the tank is low?
I can't seem to find anything about it in my books, I'll look again.
thanks for the response

I ckecked my book, too, before I replied. I don't see mention of it, but I do remember seeing it when I scoured the inside of my tank.
If it is for what I think, it would have it's greatest effect at low fuel levels. At a half tank or better, it would have no effect.
