Default Engine running a little too warm??

On Monday my car was running too hot, the needle was almost planted to the right. I took it to the dealer and they found that there was a coolent leak and that I needed a new radiator and water pump. I get the car back today (with new radiator and water pump), and when I'm driving, the car runs cool and perfect, but when I'm sitting and the engine is idleing, it startes to slightly overheat. The needle goes to the 3/4 mark. Is this normal or what??

Thanks

It is common for these cars to run "hot" according to what used to be standard. Getting an actual temp reading rather than a general area of the guage the needle points to would be greatly benefcial. Also please add year and any mods.

If you could give us an actual temperature that would be nice. Did they install a new thermostat while they were at it. As stated above theses cars run hot. What you may be seeing might not be bad. If you are concerned than you might want to talk with who ever did the repair work. Good luck.
You also may want to see if your fans are comming on at the right times.

What is the digital guage reading? That is the actual coolant temp as read by the CTS. On my 92, there is a 35 deg. difference between the analog and digital guages. The analog guage is only a "gestimant" at best and is an indication of head temp only as is gets it info from the pass head sensor located between the last 2 holes.

Any C4 will run hotter, sitting still, with only the fans (?) pulling air through the radiator, than they will cruising down the highway. Before anyone can comment on whether yours is running too hot, we're going to have to know hot it's running. Make sense???

RACE ON!!!

Vettes are suppose to run hot especially when idle and no air is circulating thru the radiator.
I paniked too after i got my first Vette when got to a stop light or in traffic. The fan kicks in right before disaster...if that fan does not kick in and you read 240+...stop the engine.
I could not stand the stock set up and went with the Power Programmer and a 160 stat. Now i get 170F-175F on the freeway and 180F-185F in traffic
All of these head aches because of exaust laws. The hotter the car runs the less poisonous the exaust gases are.

Default The design of the C-4 is....

The C-4 was not designed to idle or sit at a traffic light. They have no grill but breath from underneath. They are called bottom feeders. They run normal when you are going 15 mph or more which is the speed that air gets sucked up and goes thru the radiator. At idle, a new C-4 would overhead just like yours. They like to run and run fast!
