Default LACR-Progress! pics

Finally made it to LACR today along with Shinobi-X and Brian Cunningham. Saw a difference in times, finally!
Seems the exhaust and frisbee removal helped move a little more air through the intake (intake porting was worth a 1 mph, poss.1.5mph)
R/T-.170
60' dropped 2/10ths to 2.068
1/8 mile dropped the same
E.T. 14.807 @ 92.438 mph, incorrected. 2700 elevation, 4800 DA
Previously I could not surpass 15.0@91-other 3 runs averaged 89.9 mph
I might add that Shinobi-X has a strong running Crossfire! Upon averaging R/T's the cars ran within 1/10 of eachother!
Unfortunately we got no vids. Lines were too long to jump out and shoot...
Shinbi's Crossfire and the Cuismobile

New Exhaust

Say cheese, Shinobi!

How the heck to you figure DA? I figured a corrected time to be [14.33@95.55mph..Thanks for coming, guys
Wanted to add-Shortly after I left, Brian informed me that a '05 Mustang GT only mustered a 14.9 if this settles any GT vs. threads

Edit-wrong slip-correct info here with the better of the two

fun day for me! glad to meet both of you guys and run the cars too. what a day of heat and horrible DA. im pleased with my 14.816@91.689mph. gotta admit,i saw alot of cars that looked alot faster than they seemed! my favorite car of the day was the 80's Ford LTD Country Squire station wagon running 19.xx's@70.x mph! what a hotrod....

PS, Brian, how did your final run go with your 05' mustang V6? did you crack out of the 16's?

No excuse not to take it to the track...Shinobi drove just over 4 hours total to the track, ran it hard, then drove clear back. That's dedication
I cop out on too much time in the sun today. Please move this to Gen..

DA is a bitch to calculate.

Give me your weather data and I'll figure it out, i have a spreadsheet somewhere to do it...

Oh no Mike, now you are drag racing the vette and the pontiac?
I thought it was just a daily driver. Tighten up your reaction times and line up against the other cross-fire. The blue one. I want to see you two go head to head. I must warn you: he is deadly on the tree and dial!
You could be a well paid assassin if you take him out at the WCCC events.
Sorry Dave
I was at Famoso all day at March meet. Was hot there also. Good time.

LMAO! thanx Paul. yeah,i love to drag race. all 3 of us who went had a good time. it was a reeeeealy long drive, ecspecially because i had no co-pilot with me. next time i go to my regular track and run,a 4 tenth reduction in time should be adverage from what i saw today. i wish i understood DA and correction factors a little better.

That gives me 1184 feet. Doesn't sound right for palmdale air.

29.98 isn't exactly typical palmdale air though.

These are using my calculations though, so take em for what they're worth. I need to double check em.

i wouldn't trust my findings on weather.i hope i got the times for PM and not AM. i went on LACR.net and went to the weather section and found what the weather was like during the time we raced. im pretty sure i looked at 12 midnight and not 12 noon when looking for weather.

And that's bad?!?!? Try driving at Beech Bend sometime! 90 degrees at 100% relative humidity is the norm here. I'd love some of your weather!

From http://www.lacr.net/week.html

Altitude Correction
LACR is 2,710 ft. above sea level.
To figure the altitude factor the formula is as follows:
ET: multiply your et (at LACR) by .97
MPH: multiply your mph (at LACR) by 1.03
This will give you the ET & MPH at sea level
So, 14.8 corrects to 14.3 !!
1/2 second difference!

I don't doubt the calculations. First, there are many methods for calculating DA. There are at least three sets of definitions for "standard air". I'll bet a nickle to a donut, that barometer reading is as broadcast, which the weather bureau corrects to a sea level equivenent. To properly figure the DA you need the absolute barometer reading... The uncorrected atmospheric pressure. Remember, GIGO.

One does not correct for weather conditions. Only for the PHYSICAL altitude of the track.

No need to bother averaging RTs. The ET clock starts when the CAR triggers the timers, not when the light goes green. The RT is not a factor in the ET.

How about driving 750 miles to LACR or 850 to Sears Point (Infineon) or Southwestern (Tucson) solo, and back for a race?

It sounds like you guys have cars that *I* could race with. The whole thing sounds like you guys had a blast. Keep it up.

RACE ON!!!

I should be happy with a good running L98; but the drag fix only lasted 24 hours Bet that 406 would shave a few seconds off.....
I need an intervention
It doesn't help to see your machinist running 8's at the track, either.

Thanks for the replies guys/gals.

CFI-EFI, i really dont' like correction of times but sometimes its nice to know what you would run at ideal elevation. using the DA for the track day is a bit much for correction because if we all did that our cars times would be insane!

if they re-built the track that was by our airport here in Santa Maria,CA im almost positive you'd come travel out here to run it! our city is only at 210ft above sealevel and the DA is most likely below sealeval all the time during fall and winter months.its never hummid here and the weather is never bad for racing all year around.the air is almost perfect. alot of local drag racers have gathered around to try and get it built again since street racing is soooo bad here(mainly due to imports).the city just won't do it. we need someone rich to just do it. anyone wanna build a track where i live and have great timeslips everytime out?
