Can anyone guesstimate what kind of gains I'll see with a Superram on an LT1 auto with LT headers and hot cam kit? Its only driven on the street and I basically want a SOTP boost. For $500 I want to know if its worth it.
Also is this just a swap out with the old intake manifold or are there other things I need to change too?
Superrams do not fit LT motors. Only gen II SBC's.
That I know of, no conversion exists.
Yes, a Super Ram base does exist for a LT1 conversion. Just add an "L" after the last digit of the part number. If I remember right its 74197L or something like that. And these are in stock at Accel. Using a SR on an LT1 will give similar low and midrange torq and Hp increases with a good top end rush just as in a L98. I would say its worth it. I would have considered it on my car but it would take considerable welding to get it to fit my 210 AFR LT4 heads.
There was a guy at Etown last year at one of the covette challenge races that had a LT1 SR. I don't recall what he was running, but I remember it was a real beast.
I called Accel and after waiting 20 minutes for tech support the guy I talked to didn't know anything about the superram for the LT1. He couldnt tell me if I need special gaskets, different throttlebody, etc.. basically if its just a swap out or if I need other parts too. They recommended I get runners and a new ecu they sell but they dont even make those for an LT1 its only for an L98 . I want to use my EM LT headers with it.. anyways they couldnt help at all, does anyone here know about this stuff?
