Thanks to the fellows who responded to my thread about antenna problems.
Today I tackled the job and with all the help I received from others experience with this job it went well for me. I got the antenna out and removed all the pieces of broken cable inside the motor. Remounted everything and put in a new mast.
It took me about 3 hours to do the job but what a wonderful feeling when it was done.
This has restored my confidence in myself. I have been restricted in what I can do with having 2 heart surgeries, Congestive heart failure, and only 3/4 of my lungs thanks to Uncle Sam. Now I am not looking for pity or praise it's just wonderful getting grease under my finger nails again. My next job is the plugs, wires, and front brakes.
John- Congrats on a job well done. You have tackled a job that I have been putting off for some time. My antenna is totally stuck in the up position. I hear nothing from the motor at all, so mine will probably be a total replacement. My only hinderance is a back/hip/foot injury from the Army that I've learned to live with. Your difficulties far outstrip anything I've experienced. You will serve as my inspiration when I go after my stubborn antenna this spring.
