Need 383 Numbers/Assistance
I posted this on the general discussion and only got two replies...I thought there were a ton of strokers out there. Anyway, just wanted some basic assistance and ideas of my next step. Would love to hear suggestions/comments as to what you would reccomend. Evidentally 500 at the crank for a n/a stroker is rare for an LT1, why that is I do not know. I had a caburated 383 in an IROC pushing 550 at the crank...anyway, please assist.

500+hp is not rare for a stroker that is properly put together using the right parts. An 11.5:1 383 or 396 with the right heads, and cam combo would put down 525 to 550 at the crank. A cam with 230+ duration such as a GM 847 is a good example. There are better custom grinds out there as well. You have to have good heads that flow in the 280 region, and to get that with stock LTx heads they will need larger valves to acheive this flow level. And of course an appropriately ported intake is also required. Long tube headers and a three inch exhaust is mandatory for these numbers. Don't expect this combo to pass emissions, at least not without some fancy programming. I won't say its impossible it just takes work to get it to pass.
