I am preparing to install a cam in the Vette and was looking over the instructions. After reading the instructions and taking a few minutes to calm down I was wondering wether it would be better to just pull the engine to install the cam. It seems that that would give me more room to work around and leave less room for error as far as putting things back togeather. It is a 96 LT1. Any thoughts would be great.
I remember reading an article about this. What they did was to get the radiator out of the way and that gave enough room. I'll bet pulling the radiator is much easier than the engine. I've never done it so this could just be all theory.
Well the car has 40k on it. As far as pulling the radiator, that is on list and will have to be done but there are quite a few more things on list as well that sound a lot worse than the radiator.
Over the years I have removed and replaced too many cams to remember them all, but I never did one that it would have beed easier to remove the engine first. Just start on it and you will see it isn't as hard to do as it seems when you are reading about it. You have all your forum "friends" to help walk you through it. Good luck and don't be so nervious ,each time it gets easier to do. Just be careful and don't get sloppy. Keep track of all the parts that come off and label everything. A digital camera will help you remember some of the details if you have one. Good luck, Les
