Ive got coated Hooker 2151 headers.
I also have the heat wrap sold by Ecklers.
noticed something about the use of wrap voiding the warranty on the headers
What impact would using the wrap have on the coatings?

The wrap, especially on a street system, traps moisture and will greatly hasten decay. I have no experience with it but I've heard it'll damage even coated or stainless headers.
Dont use it if you can avoid it. HPC did give me a hard time about honoring their warranty even tho the ceramic coating was rusting thru where there was no wrap. I used the wrap near the starter. It didn't have much impact on the primary tubes but you could tell where it was near the collector. Like the Kid said, it can hold moisture, especially down below where it can get wet.

If you're trying to protect the starter, some wiring or something else from heat, fabricate a heat shield. Locate it about an 1/8" or so from the pipe(s) you're trying to shield from. You can cut away a couple of places on the shield and bend them to where you can attach them to a pipe with hose clamps.
If the Headers are Jet coated you really shouldn't have any heat issues ...I think my car runs coolers since the headers have been in the old manifold also stayed hotter alot longer than the headers .
