Default Pro help needed

Last October, I started my engine rebuild. Here I am, closing out March and my car is not running remotely right, despite thousands of $$$ and help from this Board.
I got PP&C heads, a cam from Tom Wong, a dynotech opti upgrade, K&BN Filter, a major boning from my local rebuild shop and an Azzato Chip that doesn't help much.
Does anyone know of a good LT1 tech in the NJ/Philly area who can help me?
I'm pretty despondent over this whole disaster. If I did NOTHING to my car, I'd still be driving the quickest car I ever owned. I need qualified help to stop the bleeding.
thanks guys. It's been 6 months since I've been Vetting and the withdrawal is miserable.

Sorry to hear you're having so much trouble with your potentially potent engine, jim. Can the car crank up and run at all? What exactly does it do if it can start? Sorry if I bring up old questions from the past that you've already answered but I'm curious about the possible problem.

I agree with 1985 Corvette - we need more detail on the problems.

What are your problems that you are having? Maybe I can help even though I maybe out here on the west coast.

With the stock chip, it will start. I have to keep the foot on the accelerator or it stalls. Once it's warm, about 160 degrees, it will stay running and is drivable.
With the new mem cal, it has not stayed running even warm. I only tinkered with it last saturday as my lower back went into spasm from too much leaning over playing with the ECM

The car won't idle cold without manual intervention, I have to keep on the accelerator until it is hot. But with the stock chip, there's a trong smell of fuel. The new mem cal will not keep it running, regardless of temp, but there is no bad smell of fuel. I'll spend more time on it this weekend. Thanks!

This is exactly what happened to my car with the Azzato chip... I was in your exact situation - the car had been down for months and I wanted to drive it.

I was unwilling to wait x number of weeks for a new burn from Jesse, so I ponied up the money for a custom Ed Wright tune.

Needless to say, the car idles and runs perfectly now. Go figure...

Tom Wong is an excellent resource. Listen to him carefully and follow his troublshooting/advice. Good luck and keep us posted!

Jim your engine should run nearly fine with the stock chip. That 211 cam doesn't change the VE much so the car should start and run fine. I ran that cam in a 95 car without any tunning some time ago. In fact not even the idle speed was changed. But this was a MAF strategy car and that makes a difference. However I still think that the car should start and run reasonably well on the bone stock chip. Have you checked for any other problems. Such as vacuum leaks, fuel pressure and all the obvious things.

Was your Ed Wright chip a live tune, or did he do it from the same input?

Hi Tom, I expected and paid for those checks to be done by the shop that did my rebuild - which is my way of sheepishly saying - "no". The car has a new hi perf fuel pump to go with Stage III heads . With the MAP setup, having the better flowing heads, new cam with more lift and a lower LSA, dynotech dynaspark, my symptoms should not be happening -- I'll spend some more time double checking for the basics.

No live tune. When I ordered the custom chip, I sent them their information form from their site. It had exactly the same info I sent Jesse except for eliminating the code 26.

I'm going to call Ed Wright on Monday to see what their professional opinion is on what a code 26 would do to the car (as in whether or not it would cause the car to go into "limp home mode").

Jimbo,
Is the car throwing any codes? If not check the simple thins first such as a leak down test on your injectors. Hook up a FP gauge and see if it holds preasure. You will also want to chack vacume if you havent already. Just out of curiosity what lifters are you running and what was the preload set to on them?
I know you have probably spent to much already but you realy need to spend another $90 and get a data cable from AKM data cables. You can get the software for free from either TTS Datamaster (First twent scans are free) or Free Scan. You either will need a lap top or to string a long Rs-232 cable from your computer to the car. I know it may be a PITA if you don't have the laptop but trust me its worth it.

Back on my '70 Tempest, I could have tracked it down quick. Any suggestions on where to start?

I do not have a FP guage, but probably see one coming in my future .....
As for lifters, the "shop" that did the rebuild still has not supplied my with a parts list.
A laptop I may be able to borrow, perhaps, I can check with some buds at work.
