someone painted them? they are not factory painted... they are colour molded.

If you need to remove paint, I would try a cloth with laquer thinner.

Laquer thinner will melt the plastic. I don't think there is anything that will remove the paint and leave the plastic unharmed. I'd say your best bet would be to sand the parts down until smooth and level, then repaint with color of choice, or replace them alltogether.

If it is light overspray there are home center products that are not as hot as lacquer thinner (Goo Gone, Goof off etc).

Main thing is to test the product before using it. Make sure it doesnt soften or dull the finish. If the plastic piece completely primered and painted, I agree removing the paint would be pretty tough. Easier to find a new or used replacement part, or sand and refinish as recommended before.

They are probably going to have to be replaced. Especially if the painter did it right and sanded them lightly before painting. If that is the case though, you have nothing to lose by trying to remove the paint with a paint stripper before paying for new ones.

I'd try some of the INDOOR paint stripping chemicals available at Home Depot/Lowes first. Ask for the LEAST agressive stripper. Wipe it on a small spot and remove it fairly quickly. After a little practice you should be able to get the time frame to leave it on figured out. I used some orange based paint stripper on interior door frames where I wanted to remove stains without repainting. By putting the stripper on for a very short time before removing it, I was able to remove the stains and brighten the paints apppearence without removing all of the paint.

The indoor paint strippers are generally for water based house paint, but one might work, depending on what your panel was painted with. If not, try the least agressive automotive paint remover with a limited time exposure on the part.

good article if you manage to get the paint off, and want to repaint.

if the paint is stuck real good on there, I'd say just follow that tech aritcle.

I just refinished my center console and I used "After Wash" by Klean Strip Part no AF-91. It worked fantastic at getting the plastic coating off without effecting the base plastic. I then refinished with "Spray Vinyl Dip" that I found at Lowes. It worked wounderful and looks nearly factory perfect. The $5 and 4 hours to strip beats the $150 replacement hands down.

I've used GooGone on almost everything, the carpet, the seat belts and anywhere there is a stain and i'm on my second spray bottle.
