Tranny shift question

91 with automatic tranny....when gas pedal is to floor tranny used to shift pretty consistantly at 5500 rpm now shifting is over 6000rpm, is this an easy adjustment or is this the beginning of something bad??? I already tried to reset the tranny cable up by the plenum/throttlebody, Didn't change anything.

I've been through two trans rebuilds, my last one I kept "punching through to the rev limiter. Generally, the 2/4 gear is the weakness. I'd suspect 2 nd gear is slipping...

Remove and inspect the governor. If you are lucky the gear is bad.
