I'm stumped on this one. My interior lights on my 95 Vette do not come on when I open any of the doors. The door switches seem to be working because the radio off works fine when I open the doors. All the interior lights work when I turn them on manually with the dimmer switch. Also there has been a rare occasion or two when the lights do come on when I open doors but only after the doors are open for a while. Not a big deal more of a nuisance. Thanks for any ideas.
The door switchs might just have alot of crap in them. Shoot some cleaner or WD-40 in them and work them with your finger, see if that helps. It did for me.
This's the way the int lights work on my vette (1992 coupe)
There's a light sensor by the center of the dashboard that detects ambient light, if it's bright enough on the outside your interior lights WONT go on, but if the car is in a dark garage, no matter what time of the day the int. lights should go on when you open the door, same, of course, at night time.if the sensor is partially obstructed it may cause erratic action.
What the hell we need that feature for????? I dont know
I'm pretty sure my door switches are fine but since I was messing around I put some silicone grease on them as well as the door latches. No change with the lights.
I'll look for that sensor. You say it is in the middle of the dashboard. By the radio and heater controls? Maybe it's bad because my interior lights don't come on in the dark either. Do you know if this is a GM dealer fix?
Thanks for the help.
OK So if we assume that the interior lights on my 95 Vette don't come on when you open the doors because of a faulty sensor, I have three questions:
1) Where is it located? (Is it beside the Trip Monitor?)
2) Once found where can I get a replacement? Dealer only?
3) Anyone know how to replace it?
Thanks very much.
