I know this is off topic but I was wondering if any forum members from Alaska ( or who have driven in Alaska ) might help me.
I am planning to go on vacation in August in Alaska but I am not too sure about road / traffic conditions.
I think I have figured out from the Rand Mcnally atlas that there are not too many Interstates! So how long ( roughly) does it take to drive from Anchorage to Fairbanks in August - in a rental car not a Z06??
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I don't know how long to plan to drive from place to place.
I've made this trip many times, just not for many years. I can tell you that the distance is 300 miles and that the highways are very good, and, that in August your only worries will be giant very hungary mosquitos. During August you could drive the whole trip at night with no lights. As to how long that will depend on the stops that you make and how fast you drive. Have a great time!
