Now I have some mechanical background and when researching I thought replacing head gaskets would be a challenge. Well after many, many hours of hard and meticulous work I started her up!! I really stink as a gearhead. She barley runs and is pumping water into the block. I think the intake is not mating properly because of the head milling. Though it seemed to fit and bolt up fine. Needless to say I give up!! I am so pissed that my efforts were for nothing. There are some Southern New Jersey members here if there is a reputable corvette shop in are area please let me know. This really is a kick in the pants. My 89 is not so fine, Pete
Don't give up!!!! Mistakes are the best teachers. I've pulled the whole engine out a couple times to get it right, and almost everyone that wrenches has had disappointments. As mentioned you get a A for the guts to tackle that job. With all that said, pull that thing down and find out what went wrong. Ask questions of the forum. More knowlege here than GM has. The only dumb question is the one not asked.
Hey Pete, Your efforts were not all for nothing. You took on a job most people would have just taken somewhere. I say tear her back down and see what you can find. Let us all know what you see and give her another go.
What hit like finger nails on a chalk board was when I came in and explained to the wife she replied " It ran before you took it apart" Well now that I've calmed down I am going to take the intake off and have it milled. I am sure the head gaskets are properly sealed. I really hate to say uncle! Thanks for the encouragement!! Pete
