Default I need Help setting timing please!

Anyone - have the pleasure of setting the timing on an 87 TPI? I’ve been unable to locate the timing specs and the manual referred to disconnecting something. It also refers to looking for this information on the sticker on the fender (which of course is missing) any information would be helpful Thanks

On my 86' the wire you need to disconnect is a single black wire with a brown stripe that you will find between the brake master cylinder and the wiper motor. Sometimes it is down lower in the engine compartment. It will have a convienent disconnect point that you can use.

The engine timing info is usually on a sticker on the radiator cover on the driver's side. I believe that the stock timing is 6 degrees. Some folks push it out to 10 degrees to get more performance. If your engine is older and not in good tune, you will probably find this to be too rough to deal with on a daily driver. You will need a Chevy distributor wrench to loosen the distributor to set the timing (Sears sells them if you need one).

HTH!

All C4s on which you CAN set the timing (non LTx engines) are spec'd at 6* BTDC with the ESC disconnected, warmed up.

RACE ON!!!
