Default ZZ4 engine build UPDATE [PICS!]

This weekend I was looking foward to installing my oil pump/pickup and Hamburger's oil pan, but the oil pump stud FedEx was to deliver didn't show. So, onto plan B...

This is the hardware being used in today's project. Dart Pro 1 aluminum heads, Victor Reinz Nitroseal gaskets, and ARP head bolts.

I used permatex thread sealant on all the head bolts.

Here's a pic showing the shapley 64cc combustion chambers and 2.02/1.60 valves.

Pics of the square shaped exhaust ports.

This pic shows the fairly large 200cc intake ports along with the 1.437D dual valve springs (good for .620" lift), Compcams guide plates, and ARP 3/8 studs.

Pic of a Nitroseal head gasket installed. These are the same gaskets LPE uses on most their SBC's. They're .026" compressed and should give me a compression ratio of 10:1.

Couple pics of the heads mounted.

Final pic with the heads installed torqued in three steps to 70 ft/lbs and also a sneek preview of the Moroso valve covers I will be using (still need to drill holes for the oil cap and pcv).

Here's the link to my first update: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1052753

Very pretty. I like the fuel pump blockoff plate.

What's a Nitroseal head gasket?

According to dart's website. 264cfm at .500" lift on the intake & 180cfm at .600" on the exhaust.

Made by Victor Reinz (Dana corporation). Nothing special about it just that it has a .026 compressed thickness raising compression .5 points and is made for iron block/aluminum heads part #5746.

Haven't bought the pushrods yet but plan on using a one piece design. As for rockers, I will be using crane gold 1.5 RR's

Quench distance comes out to .051. .025 piston to deck, .026 head gasket compressed.

If you run a thinner shim HG you might have a more detonation
resistant engine due to the decreased quench height. Just a thought.
