Default TPI Intake Air Foil

What is your opinion on this mod? Is it worth the $30. Ecklers claims 11.8 Horsepower/Torque 12.5 Ft/lbs gain....is this true?
http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...RVN5VUL608BJT1

Thanks

You aren't going to get a positive response from this forum. I actually read once that Horsepower TV did a test on a car with one of those airfoils and gained absolutely nothing. I wouldn't spend the money.

Though that device has been proven to increase air flow capability your engine likely doesn't require near the max capability of your stock TB, so the device will now not net you any gain.

TPIS claims it will give an improvement, but you have to do like 6 other things too.B/S

You'll get more air into the engine... How much HP that's actually worth is debatable.

Probably doesn't do unless you really stack up on the mods. I felt no difference on a stock L98

Hi.
It is right that the airfoil do not do much of an hp increase on a stock engine because it is not the throttlebody that limits the HP. If you have a modified engine where the throttlebody limits the airflow then you will have the gain. Just look into the TPIS book and you will see that it is only on a modified engine that works. The gain on a stock engine is not likely to be more than a couple of HP if anything. When modifying the engine so that the throttlebody limits the airflow then one most probably will be much better off with a new and larger Throttlebody.

It's only value is in adding to your list of mods to impress non-corvette people....

11.8 Hp. They might as well have said 118 Hp. Neither is true. Save your money and go out to dinner.

If you have some Reynolds Wrap and can mold Oragami, then make your own and save. Use the extra $$ to treat your buds,,,

Haven't seen an airfoil question in a long time. Before you spend the money go to the Parts for sale/buy forum and see if anyone will give you one for free. Really, it happens!
