Have a '96 LT4 six-speed, <30K miles and experienced the fol:
Stalled in Oct, service soon light immediately came on upon restart. Stayed on for 20 miles, then off.
A few weeks ago, got fuel, drove home which is <5 miles. On way to work Monday morning, service soon light came on again, this time for 92 miles.
Miles between incidents was 2739 and 4 1/2 months.
I'm hoping these are separate & unrelated incidents. Wondering if it can be O2 sensor or something else.
Possible throttle body icing in the first incidence. Maybe a loose spark plug or two in the latest incident. Do you have the TB bypass modification? Of course, these are just 2 possible causes out of millions.

Best,

I think you should get someone to pull the codes vs guessing.
The reason I suggested loose plugs is because it has to be one of the most common misfire code setters. The combination of aluminum head and difficult access to some of the plugs makes for plugs that loosen up and allow misfires codes.
Carb icing is a transient thing that leaves no trace once one allows the ice to melt away from the heat of the engine after stalling.
Of course, the code reader is a must with the '96. I use the autoxray 6000 but auto zone or advance auto will pull them for free.
Thanks again. Still diagnosing. Car runs like a top; is a daily driver albeit short trips but after reading other posts, my Vette too seems to have excessive condensation from exhaust & sometimes smells "rich" in addition to my original posting conditions. Will let you know how things proceed.

Survery says: P1416 vis-a-vis air bank 2~is that the air pump? Could it be the pump itself; the reason I ask is that I hear it running when the car starts, then shuts off a minute or so later. Additionally, could it be one of the sensors associated w/ it? Thanks. Evan.
Well , bank 2 is the passenger side... If it is the A. I. R. perhaps the one of the hoses is clogged? I think there are pressure sensors on each bank, perhaps you could have a clooged CAT ?
I replaced both check air valves for each air bank. Took every ounce of energy I could muster to get the passenger side free. The insides were totally, well let's say disintegrated and nasty. I cleared the code, so will see how she does; fingers crossed.

Very common... My previous 96 had both check valves fail within a month of each other and both before 36K miles...
